Four Steps To Securing Your Escrow Deposit

Published on 21/03/2017

Security is becoming a major concern within many organisations as they set their focus on meeting increasingly strict standards in order to trade more effectively and securely.

SES takes the security of your source code and data very seriously and has invested heavily in Information Security measures that protect your assets and continue to comply with the high standards set by ISO 27001 certification.

Step 1 – Developer deposits source code and data through secure SSL Connection

Traditionally, depositing your source code with your Escrow agent has been performed using physical media. Although SES still accept physical deposits, this can be expensive, cumbersome and time consuming for you if your clients request a high frequency of deposits.

SES has developed an efficient online source code depositing facility which uses a 256 Bit SSL Encryption. This gives you the ability to deposit from anywhere in the world at any time and the peace of mind that your deposited material is safe and secure during its transfer with automatic delivery confirmation.

Step 2 – SES conduct Validation testing on the deposit

As standard, SES provide Basic Validation testing on all Escrow Deposits to confirm that the deposit is virus free and that in the event of a release the end user can access source code files.

For applications that are business critical, bespoke, highly customised and/or revenue generating, SES strongly recommends Remote Code Validation as the minimum level of protection to ensure that the source code and data can be rebuilt into a working application upon release.

Step 3 – Transfer to a List X compliant storage facility

When transferring your deposit to our secure storage facilities we place your deposit in secure transit cases which are then placed inside a lockable safe within the transit vehicle.

We use a fleet of unmarked vehicles which are deadlocked, satellite tracked and double skinned to maximise security.

Step 4 – Secure storage at our List X compliant facility

Our List X Compliant secure facility has a number of security measures in place to ensure your deposits are fully protected:

  • Internal and external CCTV including fixed, zoom and dome cameras linked to a dedicated 24 x 7 x 365 monitoring service
  • PAC and biometric access controls
  • Redwall intruder detection
  • Vesda fire detection systems linked via to a dedicated 24 x 7 x 365 monitoring service
