Problem
Western Power licensed a specialised software application designed to measure power usage across its geographical grid systems. The solution was developed and maintained by a sole trader who held all intellectual knowledge relating to its creation, enhancement, and future releases. SES was engaged to ensure the application was fully protected, resilient, and optimised for secure and reliable deployment across the organisation.
Solution
SES introduced a Multi Licensee Escrow Agreement to the sole trader and all key customers, including Western Power. Following a period of consultation and evaluation, all major customers opted to join the Multi Agreement and collectively funded a Remote Code Validation test. This ensured the application could be successfully deployed in the event of an Escrow release, providing confidence and continuity for every stakeholder involved.
Outcome
SES delivered a cost‑effective and highly professional Escrow Agreement that covered not only Western Power but all of the sole trader’s key customers under a single, unified framework. By consolidating protection into one agreement, all parties were able to share the costs of annual source code renewal and application testing, creating a streamlined, efficient, and financially sustainable solution.
