Software Escrow, Simplified

Published on 13/04/2022

Drawing on 20 years worth of experience in the Software Escrow sector, L1 strips back the SES Escrow service to its basic components, negating the set up fee and making it simple, effective and affordable to get the Software Escrow protection you need.

Set Up Your Escrow From £895

As a subsidiary of SES, L1 provides our customers with simple Software Escrow agreements to cover your basic Escrow requirements.

Designed as entry level Software Escrow protection. Our L1 Escrow agreements are tailored to protect hosted (SaaS) or on-premise applications. These agreements include unlimited source code deposits per year, are protected to UKAS certified ISO: 9001 and ISO: 27001 standards and include £250,000 indemnity liability protection all for £895.

Premium Protection For Critical Applications

For those customers who require premium levels of protection, SES also provide a number of premium level Software Escrow agreements which are designed to protect your business critical, bespoke, highly customised and revenue generating applications.

These advanced protections present a much more complete business continuity solution, maximising your business’s ability to respond effectively to events where the developer of your applications is no longer able to support them.

These protections include:

  • Remote Code Validation Testing – Remote Code Validation Testing involves the Software Developer (Licensor) rebuilding the application in their own environment. The SES testing consultant witnesses the full rebuild of the application via a secure remote connection and documents the entire process. (This process can also be completed with the SES testing consultant on-site at the Licensors premises if required). The independent report compiled by the SES testing consultant coupled with the audio and visual recording of the build enables you or a third party to accurately redeploy your software application in the event of a release.
  • Simulated Release Events – When coupled with Remote Code Validation, Simulated release events demonstrate that the build documentation is sufficient for a Software Developer to rebuild the application upon release. Therefore, making it the only form of Validation Testing which provides complete assurance that the Escrow deposit can be swiftly and accurately redeployed whilst minimising downtime in the event of a release.
  • SaaS Redeployment Solutions - The SES SaaS Redeployment Solution, which we call the Licensee Continuity Plan (LCP) is a live and functioning disaster recovery solution. When called upon, SES will be responsible for rapidly recreating the working service on your behalf. Following a confirmed release, the SES will provide a guaranteed period of service continuity. Providing invaluable time to make alternative arrangements – whether that’s bringing the service in-house or transitioning to a replacement. This period of continuity is built into the coverage from the start and guaranteed by SES.

In addition, all SES agreements are protected to UKAS certified ISO: 9001 and ISO: 27001 standards and include £5 million indemnity liability protection.
